General Description

In order to develop and increase the awareness and capacity of healthcare students across the Asia-Pacific region on the topic of disaster risk reduction, we hold annual international summer camps and local follow-up activities. The summer camp involves approximately 100 delegates and staff from about 10 countries. The camp includes lectures by local professionals, small working groups, field trips and training.

Objectives

-To develop healthcare students’ awareness and expertise of DRR. Success indicator is the total number of those who receive training. Questionnaire is done before and after to see the changes in levels of understanding
-To build the capacity of students in disaster risk reduction and in project/event development, implementation and evaluation. Success indicator is the number of students involved as local (event planning) and international organising committee (project management), the number of events organised, and their evaluation
-To cultivate future healthcare workers who can work constructively in a multicultural environment. Success indicator is the number of countries represented
